For Apache... "all I did was"...actually.. it took a little while to figure
it out, as well as someone to pull a few mail list achieves :)
add the following 2 lines to the httpd.conf file:
Include "c:/jakarta-tomcat-3.2/conf/mod_jk.conf-auto"
JkMount /jetspeed/portal/* ajp12
When running under Apache.. it doesn't know anything about "portal", so it
doesn't know to forward it to tomcat to let it figure out that it is mapped
in the web.xml file. It DOES however know what to do with "jetspeed", as
that is in the mod_jk.conf-auto file. :=)
I suppose there are good and bad reasons for including the
"c:/jakarta-tomcat-3.2/conf/mod_jk.conf-auto"... Just make sure you kill
Apache process as well as tomcat :)
hope that helps

The ":8080" specifies the port to connect to. If you do not specify a port,
as in your last url, then it defaults to port 80.
Thus for both of the above urls work, you would have to configure Apache to
listen to both.
I guess your using Tomcat as the servlet container - which defaults to
listen on port 8080 - and is why that works - but the other one is probably
talking to Apache - which I guess means you have not configured apache to
talk to tomcat - in which case, see the tomcat mailing list/website for info
on doing that.
Have fun,
Chris
