Dear Lorele, What is wrong with the poem "Halicha Lekesarya" (Eli Eli) by Hannah Szenes, which was set to music by David Zahavi? It is not a later "version" of the Yiddish song, but a completely different text that has nothing to do with the Yiddish lyrics! FWIW: The first "version" of the Yiddish song was a psalm, which was also entirely in Hebrew :-) Groeten, Irwin Oppenheim [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~~~* Chazzanut Online: http://www.joods.nl/~chazzanut/ ---------------------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------+ Hosted by Shamash: The Jewish Network http://shamash.org A service of Hebrew College, which offers online courses and an online MA in Jewish Studies, http://hebrewcollege.edu/online/ * * FREE JEWISH LEARNING * * Shamash invites you to join MyJewishLearning.com, a comprehensive, objective, authoritative and interactive learning resource in all areas of Judaism.
