The Frum News Report Exclusive: Due to recent conflict between the 2 patrol factions in crown heights, Shmira and Shomrim, the NYPD 71st Precinct has created its own Community Citizen's Patrol. Since June when, Captain Peter Simonetti has replaced Frank Vega as the new Deputy Inspector of the 71st Pct, Crown Heights has noticed a significant decrease in crime. He asked both Shomrim and Shmira members to join in efforts to unite as one. Members from the Crown Heights Jewish community have volunteered to join the patrol. Today, all the volunteers were registered and soon will be issued official identification cards. Source
