I've had some success with using Carbona or Woolite rug shampoo--the foam kind in a spray can. It has brighteners which seem to help. My cushions have zip off covers which they say not to remove, but I did anyway and sent them out to be dry cleaned. They look a lot better than the back and arms of the sofa. Good luck!
