I have been where your at now and It took me forever to box up my moms things when she passed away 13 years ago, But I did it slowly,took years to start giving things away that weren't already promised and I still have a few boxes I cannot let go yet, so as I declutter my house I just make sure they are set aside out of my way for another time, that way I don't pressure myself into making any rash decisions.
