Sorry I haven't posted lately but this has been a very trying week. My older
DS has been home for an entire week now with bronchitus. He coughs half the
night & keeps me up & I have been like a zombie all day. The teachers have
sent a ton of work for him to do & it is a constant fight to get him to do
any of it. I know he doesn't feel good but he has to get most of it done or
he won't pass the tests that they said he will be taking as soon as he
returns. I am hoping that will be on Monday. I can't take much more of him
at home. I will fill you in later with the crazy things he did. He is
constantly in trouble. Anyone know how to unsuperglue things? Sounds funny
now but boy was I mad!! There is a chunk of model airplane glued to the
middle of my living room floor (hardwood) with a bunch of chunks of floor
missing where he tried to pry them up with a tool for carving halloween
pumpkins. This he does while I am on the computer searching for volcano
information for his report for him. DH about went nuts when he saw what he
was doing!! I can't blame him. Not much common sense for a 11-1/2 year old.
So I haven't done much this week but go through a few paper piles & do some
laundry. I did clean up the family room enough so that we could have a fire
in the fireplace. This was the first fire we have had in about 3 years (all
because of my clutter). Youngest DS was so happy. It made quite a
picture...he was curled up in the nearby chair reading the Bible by the fire.
He has to read one of the gospels completely by himself to pass a badge for
Royal Rangers. He is 8-1/2 & this was not something that was easy to get him
to do. He has been procrastinating doing it since October & it is the last
thing left to do for his current badge & then he starts the next one. I told
him if he didn't get it done by the new year that he wasn't going back to the
group but he has made a real effort in the reading so I extended the time a
little. He has the last 3 chapters of Luke to read & then he is done. His
brother would have fibbed & said he was done reading it while all the time he
would have had Harry Potter or Goosebumps hidden inside the Bible. Nothing
like fibbing about Bible reading!!! LOL Well I better go to bed...it is
almost 4:00 am & I am still up listening to him cough. I feel like I am
coming down with something too...all congested & starting to cough. The
doctor took me off of my claritin & told me to just take something over the
counter. I didn't realize how much it was helping me until I wasn't taking
it. My eyes are so burny & itching I feel like I have poison ivy in them & I
have prescription eyedrops for allergies that I have been using. She said
that with my high blood pressure (even though it is under control with the
medication) I was taking too many other medications that elevate blood
pressure so she wanted to drop something that I could do without. I have a
painkiller for my back & 2 meds for the hypersomnia that apparantly raise it
also that I can't stop taking so I guess the claritin has to go. You know I
am feeling itchy all over...not just my eyes. My stomach & back are driving
me nuts too. I don't know if it is normal dry skin from it being winter or I
really am "getting" something. Tomorrow I guess we won't be in church again
since DS is still coughing & I'm feeling this way. I feel bad that younger
DS has to stay home but it can't be helped. We live 1/2 hour from our church
so there isn't anyone else nearby that he could go with. Last week we went
to Toy Story on ice in Philadelphia so we missed church & we got soaked in
the parking lot looking for the car. On the way home DS started coughing &
he hasn't stopped since. The doctor put him on a strong cough medicine the
keeps him up late at night & then he sleeps the day away. Please pray that
this ends by Monday so things can get back to normal around here (or as
normal as they ever are). DH worked 3 doubles this week & the whole weekend
so we have been pretty much on our own but at least I didn't have to cook for
him. I made a big pot of chicken soup with dumplings that we have been
eating all week. Thanks for letting me vent!!!
