I did some decluttering of my Christmas decorations as I put them away this 
year also. It did make the process take a bit longer - but it will be worth 
it in the long run. I've been trying to do that every time I unpack/repack 
decorations. I have so much - and I don't use all of it. 

When I put away the Christmas boxes I got out the Mardi Gras decorations. I 
put up a few things (Mardi Gras is early this year - February 12) and got rid 
of some that were worn. 

Just keep at it. If we keep getting rid of the things we don't use, the piles 
and boxes are bound to get smaller - at least that's the theory...
