I just redid my closets and found the following: 1. Letting go of stuff requires emotional decisions. I had about 4 or 5 stages to downsize the closet. I'd do a sweep get a little more space and do another sweep to let go of a few more things. I found finding homes for my favorite but no longer fitting or practical clothes with good friends helped.
2. I found the professional closet organizers to be very expensive. I interviewed them for their ideas and then went to Home Depot and got what I needed using their best ideas. (shame on me). 3. Flat sandals fit well under the bottom rack of shoe racks with rods that go side to side. It saves a little space in the shoe area. 4 I hang all the accessories with my outfits in premade baggies with a hole punched in the baggie from a hole puncher. I then used a brother p touch label maker to suggest other outfits the accessories go with. And if I have two sunderesses that are green I a hang them together so the accessories are close by. I do this because I have health problems and often sleep till the last minute and dont have time to rush around with accessories. I keep the general jewelry ie: gold or rhinestone that goes with everything in the jewelry armoire. In winter I will switch the plastic baggies with pr organized accessories to match up with my winter outfits from my summer outfits. 5. I was able to let go of some stuff by sending it to my friend who filmed it. I made aphoto album of favorite clothes that used to fit. Then after she filmed.
