Dd told me today that she would not share with her brother (or sister <g>) and that I didn't like her.  I felt so bad and guilty.  She also told me that she wants me to go away.  :'(  I know she doesn't mean it, but it still kills me.  I am having bouts of 'what the hell was I thinking?'

Julie -

I had to laugh a little at this. I remember when my older son was almost 3. He noticed a lady in the parking lot with 2 small children. He said in amazement "Mommy, that lady has 2 kids! Why would anybody want to have 2 kids??" I replied that sometimes people want to have 2 children. He said, "No, you only need one - just me." I said that perhaps someday we'd like to have another baby, but he was adamant - "Well, you can't - the door is locked."

I was pretty amused by this. However, later in the store when another woman walked by with a baby in an infant seat and I noticed it, he screamed "No, Mommy, No - don't touch that baby!" I wonder what the lady thought...

Eventually, we did have another son, but Chase was nearly 5 by then and he dealt with it pretty well. Now they are 10 & 15 and they're actually buddies most of the time.

Just be prepared to give your dd lots of extra attention and let her help you with the baby. It is difficult sometimes to meet everyone's needs, but with some effort you will work it out.

Diane
