I learnt something interesting when I lived in the middles east. People don't have furniture! I've adopted this part of their culture. I have a thin mattress for a bed that I put away and hide every morning. I've managed to make alot of space this way in my small bedroom which used to be dominated by a very large bed. I do have a desk and chair and storage cupboards and chest of drawers however. In the middle east, a carpet seems one of their most important possessions. I find myself working from the floor alot lately, especially as I have alot of things spread all over the floor. I've got a few rugburns as a result. lol. They use pillows as cushions and prop them against the wall. They clear everything from the floor and put it out sight when tidying up- It does reduce visual clutter.
