I just wanted to share what happened while driving tonight.  I had my two boys in the car with me & they had both fallen asleep since it was a few minutes after midnight.  I had just dropped my Mother & aunt off at home after all of us going to my boy's school play.  My Mom lives 1/2 hour in one direction from me & the play was 1/2 hour in the other direction so it was really late when we were finally headed home.  I remembered we were out of milk & I needed gas so I decided to stop at the WAWA to take care of both.  I was rounding a fairly sharp bend on a narrow road through a wooded area when I was suddenly faced with 2 sets of headlights coming right towards me.  The vehicle directly in front of me had flashing lights all around it.  I didn't have time to think...if I had taken the time I don't think I would be here right now tell! ing you about it.  I hit the brakes & swerved to the right running onto the shoulder & stopping just short of the trees.  My boys barely stirred even though their seat belts were the only things keeping them from being thrown to the floor.  I just sat there for a minute or two trying to catch my breath & calm down (and thanking God that we were all still breathing).  The vehicle with the flashing lights I assume was an ambulance & it was in the middle of passing another vehicle when I rounded the bend.  It was coming very fast & passed the car & got back in the proper lane just in time to avoid more cars that had been coming behind me.  Luckily they had been a distance behind or things might have turned out differently.  I went to the WAWA which was just a couple of blocks further down the road celebrated life by downing a very large eclair.  I bought donuts for the boys too but they were still asleep so they ge! t theirs for breakfast tomorrow.  I called 911 on my cell phone & reported the incident to the answering operator.  A few minutes later a policewoman called me back to ask what had happened.  She gave me the phone number of the local fire company & the chief's name so I can call tomorrow & report it directly to them.  I had given them the exact time & location so I guess they monitor what emergency vehicles are on the road & know where they are going & where they came from.  I just hope whoever the driver was they get reprimanded for putting our lives in danger.  I understand that when there is an emergency that the ambulances kind of take over the roads but usually they wait for the cars to clear from their paths & don't drive on the wrong side of the road-especially on a dark windy one through the woods.  They could have had quite a few more patients that needed medical care if I hadn't been paying attention.&n! bsp; I know this is off topic but I was just counting my blessings and thought I would share it with you.  If my boys had been awake I very likely could have had my attention on them & not on the road at that crucial moment.  Thank God for miracles.
