Hi Karen,

I am the same as you. I let the e-mails buildup until I can't stand them
anymore, and then I start deleting. I do use one technique that I learned
on this list for dealing with it, although I can never seem to keep up with
it for more than a week or two at a time, and then I seem to fall back into
my bad habits again. Anyway, I use the technique where you have to keep up
on what's coming in, as well as working on the old stuff little by little.
So, what I do is I have a Daily To-Do item that says "Read all of
yesterday's e-mail, and deal with 10 more old e-mails". I chose
yesterday's, because its easy to see what's dated yesterday, plus I'm not
(so) tempted to keep checking my e-mail during the day in order to read
today's mail. And 10 old e-mails seems like a manageable enough amount.

I actually cleared out an e-mail folder of over 2000 messages (mostly
recipes and such), using the 10-at-a-time approach. It took a while, and
sometimes I read more than 10, but I finally got it done.

Pam.
