Rita, before becoming disabled, I did Boxer rescue and I can't think of a better pet!  The friend of mine who took over my rescue, Anglie Persch, has a website at www.rockinprescue.org  and she also has listings of rescues in other states.  It takes a special angel to adopt an older dog (although there are puppies in rescue as well!) and give them love most have never known!  Bless you for considering it no matter what breed you choose!  Boxers are inside dogs and good for security too.

By the way, just a hint: don't have your home "spotless" when the homecheck is done.  One thing I looked for was a dog-friendly home with some toys about and some hair on the furniture :)

Good luck!

Sherry,
Hi!  If you read my "come back" post you've seen I'm thinking about a dog in my life again. I seem to remember you have a greyhound and I was doing some research on greyhound rescue. Is that what you did?
I know you have 2 new rottie pups and another dog so I know I have a kindred spirit here.  I was just thinking a puppy might be a bit much for me right now and doing a rescue with an older dog would be a better way to go. A gal in my neighborhood has a greyhound and I want to talk with her cause I think she may have done a rescue. I saw on the site for Greyhound rescue in Richmond, VA that they will send two people to your home as part of the process.  That's one reason I have this goal to get my butt in gear. It actually gave me a goal as i've never been good about setting goals. I wouldn't want anyone coming in my house right now as it is.
