Nellie, I just wanted to let you know that it gives me pleasure every time I see your name in an email. I know it seems silly but my grandmother (father's side) died when I was about 6 and her Name was Nellie. My only memory of her was visiting her at a nursing home & seeing old people rock in rocking chairs in the front porch. I have a few pictures & I do resemble her a little. My siblings & I have always loved the name Nellie & have given it to many a doll & a few cats. We can't go over a bumpy road or down a hilly road without a "whoa Nellie" coming out of our mouths. Sometimes it turns into a "whoa bellies" if it's a really good hill & you feel like you left your belly somewhere behind. There aren't currently any Nellies residing in any of our homes except maybe a toy or two so I thought I would let you know that I!
am borrowing you for a little "goofy" nostalgic pleasure. It's just like when I am in the grocery store & I pass a display of Hyacinths & that sweet smell jumps out & grabs me. I am instantly back to being a little kid on Easter morning digging into my Easter basket. Someone always gave my mother potted hyacinths, tulips & daffodils for Easter & she would display them among the Easter baskets (5 kids-5 baskets). I can't smell that wonderful sweet aroma without envisioning a chocolate bunny. My DH thinks I'm nuts & my younger DS said that if I sniffed the flowers in the store any harder there wasn't going to be any "sniff" left for the person that bought it. He was afraid the store would charge me. LOL Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that there was a goofy lady out there that was deriving pleasure just from seeing your name in print.
Oinkingly yours,
Debbie in Delaware
P.S. I told my sister about your name & she had a moment of excitement also. Her sweet "Nellie" the kitty died a few years ago.
