Hi all - I'm so happy to report that I just picked up my computer from the sheriff's office. All the pieces are there - just hoping they all work when I get home to hook them up!
They also returned the cd player and suitcase that the stuff was taken in. Most of the other stuff is probably gone, but that's okay, we'll deal with it. I'm amazed that they were able to recover the computer. They have now arrested 2 boys from my neighborhood, both 17, in connection with the robberies. It is a sad story and as angry as I am, I feel bad for these kids. Both are school dropouts, with single mothers working 2 jobs. Since I'm a single mother myself, I don't feel that's any excuse, but these kids have obviously not gotten the attention that my kids have. The detective said that one mother came in screaming at him for arresting her poor son. He was the one who kicked the door in - the footprint from my door matched his shoe perfectly. I have to wonder what that woman thought her son was doing while she was at work and he was not going to school or working. This was not an isolated incident - so far they have identified 12 houses in our neighborhood that these kids have robbed over the past year - with likely more to come. It is sad to think that these boys have become predators at such an early age. Anyway, sorry to go on about that - just feeling down about the whole situation I guess. I'm happy about the computer and I know my kids will be thrilled - they don't know about it yet.
