Leslie - Just wondering - did they treat it with anything? When our house flooded with a foot of water in '95 we had to cut out the sheetrock and replace it. We sprayed inside the walls with bleach to kill mold & mildew. When I got burned out on bleach I used a product you can buy at Sam's called "Odoban" - which also worked.
We had to do this ourselves because we didn't have flood insurance at the time. The bleach and Odoban both worked to kill mold and mildew. I could smell it growing in places I missed (behind the fridge) and when I found the spot and treated it the smell and marks cleared right up.
