I would probably keep at least 4 of each at hand (not frying pans though). My idea is to get rid of everything that isn't used at all, keep the items you use regularly together and in easy reach and store the "once in a while" items together - somewhere you can get to them, but not with the things used everyday. The goal is to have the everyday use items at hand and not to be digging through stuff you don't need or use to get to them. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
