The president of the government of south Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit met
today in Rumbek ,the US envoy to Sudan Mr. Richard Williamson and
discussed the deployment of the joint integrated Units in Abiyee.

The envoy said he is happy that the Abyei administration has finally been
put in place.

Speaking to the press on arrival from Rumbek at Juba International Airport
today the envoy said:
Williamson is expected to meet the secretary General of the Sudan Peoples
Liberation Movement, Pagan Amum, and government officials. He will travel
to Khartoum on Wednesday to meet with the officials of the Government of
National Unity.


President Omer Al Bashir has issued a decree appointing the five
chairpersons of Abyei administrative units.

The chairpersons are  Ayom Manib, Nyok  Agok, Deng Aer Deng, Kuol Arok
Kuol and Matis Anyak Kuol.

The president also issued another decree appointing members of Abyei
legislative Council.

This comes after the appointment the chairman of Abyei Interim
Administration, Arob Mayak and his deputy Ali Abdul Rahman in August.

The chairman of the interim administration of Abiyee Arob Mayak told
Miraya  FM the appointed official  and the legislators will  soon  travel
to Abiyee  for swearing in and taking up their duties.

The commissioner of Juba County Albert Pitia has acknowledged to Miraya FM
that the police in Juba have done a mistake of arresting citizens last
weekend on allegation of “bad dressing”.

The commissioner said that his recent local order was strictly related to
– what he has described as – “Niggers group, known for causing insecurity
in the town”.

He said that it has nothing to do with the way of dressing.

A Police  officer in  the Public order department  in Juba confirmed to
Miraya FM on Monday that thirty one (31) girls and five (5) boys have been
arrested following a local order issued by the Juba County commissioner.

On Monday the GoSS minister of gender, social welfare and religious
affairs Mary Kiden Kimbo strongly condemned any such action on the part of
the police against women and said that she is “totally shocked” by the
commissioners’ decision.

She said that the actions were in contravention both of the Bill of rights
and the Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan.

Numerous reports were received last weekend of young women being picked up
by police officers and taken in the back of pickup trucks to a ‘Public
Order Court’ in the Malakia / Konyo Konyo Market district of Juba.
Eyewitnesses described many women later leaving the premises in
bloodstained clothing, showing what appeared to be clear signs of beating.



The Justice and Equality Movement, Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Faction, has denied
surrender of some of its fighters to the armed forces in Darfur.

The spokesperson of the Movement, Ahmed Hussein, told Miraya FM that the
fighters do not belong to the movement, adding that it was a mock
surrender by the government.


UNAMID had earlier reported that about one-hundred-sixteen fighters of the
Justice and Equality movement  surrendered to the armed forces in Kornowi,
Jirjira and Tina. The mission said it was not sure whether the fighters
belonged to Dr. Khalil or the other Justice and Equality Unified National
Faction.

Reuters  news agency  has  just  reported that  ,A soldier in  UNAMID
force in Darfur a Nigerian was shot and Killed yesterday evening  in West
Darfur  after he was ambushed by  a  group  of sixty  armed men .The
soldier in  the  ninth  killed  in the last three month.

The Eastern Front demanded the Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement be included
in the transitional constitution.
A spokesperson for the front Salah Barukein told Miraya FM that the
Eastern Sudan Peace agreement says the agreement is to be part of the
transitional constitution.

Barukein said the front will continue to  press  on   so that the
agreement  is made part of the  interim constitution .

The Sudan People’s Libration Army, in collaboration with the Ceasefire
Joint Military Committee, organized a four -day workshop in Juba to
discuss implementation of the security arrangements of the Comprehensive
Peace Agreement.

Speaking to Miraya FM the SPLA representative in the Committee Brigadier.
General Mach Paul said that participants would also discuss issues related
to violation of human rights.

Around two hundred participants from various security bodies are attending
the workshop.
