Salva Kiir reinstates Lakes speaker, ending political turmoil
October 8, 2008 (RUMBEK) – The President of Southern Sudan and First Vice
President of the Republic of Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit said that Lakes
State Speaker Isaiah Alier Mashinkok and his deputy Marik Nanga Marik who
had been impeached on Sept. 24, 2008, should absolutely resume their duty
in Lakes State Assembly.

South Sudan President opens parliament after one month of recess
October 8, 2008 - NSV - South Sudan President H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit has
opened the South Sudan Legislative Assembly today in Juba after one month
of recess.
In his address to the lawmakers, Kiir said the implementation of
Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which ended 21 years bloody war in
South Sudan “remains our top priority.”

At least 5,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
have arrived in South Sudan in the past two weeks after fleeing "ferocious"
attacks by the notorious Ugandan rebel group, the Lord's Resistance Army
(LRA), the United Nations refugee agency reported today.

Private Medical Clinic Opens in Kuacjok
KUACJOK, Oct 7 (Gurtong)-An indigenous medical enterprise known as Good
Samaritan Medical Clinic Limited has just opened its branch in Kuacjok
Town .The clinic will provides basic medical services including medical
consultation, tests and treatments for out patients. The clinic also has a
small ward for in patient with a capacity to admit only two in patients
with more serious complications at a time before being transported to Wau
for further medical check.

Juba Commissioner’s Local Order Affects Girls
JUBA, October 6 (Gurtong) – The Commissioner of Juba County, Hon Albert
Pitia Redentore, on Thursday issued a County local order, number four
exercising the powers conferred upon him and following section 7 (10) of
the Local Government Act, on social and cultural affairs from his office to
arrest all ''Niggers'' in his County.
