A Call for SLM/A Reunification
Dear SLM/A Fellows,
Our strength is our unity. I believe that we must struggle for the
interest of our people, and the whole people against the genociders of the
National Congress Party (NCP), and their allied Janjaweed militias. Thus,
the pursuit of this goal, however, is not trivial pleasure seeking. It is
a fundamental to our persistent that grounded by our supreme uncompromised
value of security, justice, peace, liberty and equal opportunity.
These noble ends will be hard to achieve without our unity. Yet, we have
to construct the idea of unity based own our internal deliberations, and
without any negative external-imposed ideas. When the chairman Abdul Wahid
Alnour adamantly rejected all imposed external reunification initiatives,
we reasoning that the SLM/A has its own robust and well- laid plans of
bringing all its members together. Not to mention, the recent
reunification of the field commanders which took place on 14th of October
2008 under Tarni declaration led by Col. Jabir Mohamed Hassab Allah, and
Salah Mustafa (Bob), was the Movement’s practical answer and antidote to
those who are raising dust and criticizing the SLM/A leadership for not
being serious in unifying the movement. In fact, most of these people are
trying to create circumstances that suit heir own personal purposes or the
hidden agenda of their affiliated organizations, which in most cases are
against our people’s interest.
We are not claiming perfection; or a top- notch but we are doing our
leadership duty to encourage all members of the movement who believe in
our values to come together under one leadership of SLM/A. Here, and it is
not an exaggeration to say, the uncompromised stands of the chairman Abdul
Wahid Alnour toward the rights of our people, letting the masses and the
troops rallying behind him, regardless of every thing because he had
proved to his people and the world that he is a leader who will never
waver during the difficult circumstances or sell out his people for
personal gains. Thus, our respect, confidence and admiration for him, is
without limit; and those who only see the negatives are unable to recount
his heroic deeds.
Pursuing our values and eschewing misery is the chief drive and purpose of
our will. Leadership will be tested by the results of this will. This
shall be summoned forth by the unity of our movement as well as by our
people wants. Our duty is to change ourselves and our world by accomplish
vigorous transformation in the current situation that responds to these
wants. These changes and its achievements will be measured by the supreme
of our values of security, justice, peace, liberty and equal opportunity.
Thus, I encourage all of you to rise above narrow personal interest and
let us join hands and work together as one united movement to achieve our
great objectives.
Nimer Mohamed Abdelrahman.
