The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) has rejected the
dropping of the memberships of southerners from the National
Legislature. Speaking to Radio Miraya, the SPLM Secretary General,
Pagan Amum, said that dropping the memberships is a violation of the
National Interim Constitution and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Amum said this also contradicts the Presidency's decision which said
that the constitutional post holders and the current institutions
should continue until the end of the interim period in July. Earlier,
the National Legislature dropped memberships of southerners in the
parliament.

The National Legislature comprises the National Assembly and the
Council of States.
