Upper Nile land dispute entangles SPLM and SPLM-DC Friday, 25 February 2011 17:49 Sudan >>> Nyikang County's new Commissioner and Sudan People's Liberation Movement member Gabriel Nyaweilo has refuted claims that he intends to resettle non-natives in land belonging to the Shuluk tribe in Upper Nile state.
Shuluk youth held a protest march in Malakal town, Wedenday, to denounce what they alleged were plans by the new local administrator to settle other tribes in their lands. Speaking to Radio Miraya, Nyaweilo dismissed the allegations and accused the Sudan People's Liberation Movement - Democratic Change (SPLM-DC) group of inciting the protest. Denying, in turn, any connection with the protest march, SPLM-DC Spokesperson, Peter Oduk, described the fears of the Shuluk youths as "legitimate." He called on the State Governor to issue a clear statement on the issue to reassure them. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
