The Warrap State Legislative Assembly has closed down until further
notice due to a split in the house over a motion to impeach the State
Minister of Finance on Tuesday. Speaking to Radio Miraya, the Deputy
Speaker of the Assembly, Gavino Kiir Madut, said that the situation
arose when the speaker requested the MPs for withdrawal of motion but
they refused and forced him to walk out from the session.

Madut described the current situation as a constitutional crisis in
the state. He added that the Government of Southern Sudan has sent a
committee to resolve the issue.

Earlier in the week, the state assembly summoned the Minister of
Finance to explain the expenditure of the State's five months budget.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the report presented by the minister
did not satisfy the legislators, prompting twenty seven out of thirty
four MPs asking for removing the minister from his office. This, he
said, has divided opinion in the state government.
