RUMBEK, February 28, 2011 [Gurtong] - “Only 17 male and 2 female candidates out of the expected 35 turned out for the interview, adding that the candidates came from Lakes and Western Equatoria States”, Awor said She said that that the general performance of the candidates interviewed was poor, only 7 candidates out of the 19 who turned out scored above 50 percent. Awor attributed the poor performance of the interviewees to a number of factors, including; lack of proper career guidance at Secondary level, detachment from books after completing secondary school, lack of team work and the unwillingness to practice English language. According to the interviewees the written and oral parts of the interview were difficult. Ajarova Teddy Traccy, a candidate from Yirol, rated the two examinations as fair, adding that the Thursday’s written examination had tougher questions than the oral one which she sat for on Friday morning. Awor noted that candidates who applied from Upper Nile, Jonglei and Unity States will have their interviews on 3rd 4th of March in Malakal. She insisted that the Nursing School administration will follow the set criteria where only candidates who have done well in science, mathematics and English subjects will be considered. Awor emphasized that the community should realize that the certificate received at the end of the course has great value in the nursing profession, challenging the youths who rejected the course in search for other degree courses. Successful candidates are expected to begin the Certified Community Nursing Course in May 2011 at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Mapuordit Campus. Rumbek Nursing School is sponsored by the International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP), an Italian Non-Governmental Organization in Rumbek, working in collaboration with Lakes State Ministry of Health and the health department of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
