WAU,1st March, 2011 [Gurtong] - Rizik who arrived in Wau on Monday
from Raga County, told Gurtong that the abductees escaped a few hours
later and are in good condition with their family.

Since the Sunday attacks in Raga, security situation has deteriorated
in the neighboring Western Equatoria State where a honorable member
with his son and another person were abducted in morning hours on
their way to their farm.

There is a long history of LRA’s violence in South Sudan since the
Ugandan rebels began to scatter in Southern Sudan, Central Africa
Republic and Democratic Republic of Cong (DRC).
The LRA is far from extinct while there are disputes whether the
Uganda rebels have been weakened by the recent offensive strike
against them or not. Though, it’s clear that they remain incredibly
dangerous and ruthless.

After the interim period, Southern Sudanese shall be protected by SPLA
against LRA after the long civil war that saw many lose their lives
the Commissioner added.
