RUMBEK, March 5, 2011 [Gurtong] - The Cueibet County Commissioner in
Lake State Mr. Isaac Mayom Malek has appeal to the Government of
Southern Sudan to allow blocked grant to be transferred into various
County Commissioners authority accounts.

Mayom said that Lakes State Counties are facing difficulties due to
the delayed funds in fulfilling the promises made to the Government of
Southern Sudan -GOSS during the 2010 election campaign.

“We met with the local government board from GOSS and discussed about
the transfers, we agreed the funds to be transferred in the months of
April, September and December of 2011”, Mayom confirmed.

In the Sudan April 2010 general elections, Governor Chol Tong Mayay of
Lakes State had promised to construct feeder roads, a hospital,
school, youth and women centers for businesses but only some of the
projects have been done halfway.

“For Cueibet County, Governor Tong promised to construct 2 Women
Association Centers and one center is complete but the other is still
under construction”, Said Mayom.

Meanwhile, Lakes State finance minister Pur Chiagan Dakbai said that
the 2011 budget is intended to accomplish last year’s April election
promises.

Speaking to Gurtong in Rumbek, the Commissioner urged all Southern
Sudan youths to be vibrant and industrious since South Sudan will
celebrate its Independence on July 9, 2011.

He assured the state citizens that the situation was calm in Cueibet
and Tonj East after the cattle raids incidences were reported.

Mayom confirmed that the State had deployed police force to control
the situation.
