The Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly has recommended an
investigation into the expenditure of USD 24 million in repatriation
of southerners from the north. The money was given to the Ministry of
Humanitarian Affairs and the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation
Commission (SSRRC).

Speaking during the deliberation on the 2011 draft budget, the leader
of opposition in the assembly, Sudan People's Liberation
Movement-Democratic Change (SPLM-DC) member Onyoti Adigo, said that
while huge funds were allocated for the return process, many people
are still waiting in transit in Khartoum and Kosti, in bad living
conditions.

Meanwhile, SSRRC's Director of Repatriation, Arop Mathiang, told Radio
Miraya that about 3,000 returnees are currently on their way from
Kosti to Malakal. Mathiang said similar numbers are expected to arrive
in Juba and Bor by the end of this week. However, Mathiang reiterated
that logistical and human resource problems are hindering the
repatriation program.
