ICC commits two Darfur rebels to trial Wednesday, 09 March 2011 14:38 Sudan >>> The International Criminal Court (ICC) confirmed on Tuesday that it would try two former Darfur rebel commanders on charges of war crimes brought by ICC's Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo against the two.
ICC's Pre-trial Chamber found substantial grounds to believe that Abdallah Banda and Saleh Jerbo were criminally responsible as co-perpetrators of three war crimes, agencies report. In a hearing last December, prosecutors accused the two of leading an attack in northern Darfur in September 2007, killing 12 African Union peacekeepers. The two accused had voluntarily surrendered to the court last June, after warrants for their arrest were issued in 2009, and urged other war crimes suspects to surrender to justice. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
