SAF: Heavy fighting with rebels in North Darfur Wednesday, 13 April 2011 20:10 Sudan >>> The Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) say that heavy fighting broke out between its troops and an alliance force of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), and the Sudan Liberation Movement Minnawi Faction in Northern Darfur on Tuesday, news agencies report. SAF Spokesperson Col Al Sawarmi Khalid Saad said that the clashes erupted after rebels ambushed a Sudanese army patrol, which resulted in a number of casualties on both sides.
In an unrelated incident, a military training aircraft of the Sudan Armed forces (SAF) crashed Wednesday morning, killing one of its three crew members, according to agency reports.
