UNMIS welcomes the completion of elections in Southern Kordofan State

The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) welcomes the completion of
gubernatorial and legislative elections in Southern Kordofan State,
which were conducted in a peaceful manner monitored by a large number
of observers. UNMIS was not an official observer of the elections but
had provided logistical and technical support.
We urge all parties to continue to maintain peace following the
announcement of the results today, and encourage any party that may
have complaints regarding the election process to address them through
legal means or dialogue.
