Insecurity hampering relief efforts in South Kordofan

The World Health Organization (WHO) says its warehouse and offices
have been broken into and medical supplies worth over US$180,000 US
looted in Kadugli town in Sudan's South Kordofan state, where
thousands of people have been displaced by continued clashes.

Humanitarian agencies are appealing to authorities in the region to
allow air and road access in order to send aid to those uprooted from
their homes.

Melissa Fleming, spokesperson forthe United Nations High Commission
for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Tuesday humanitarian flights have been
denied the authorization to land despite the United Nations agencies'
efforts to secure such agreement. Land access has also been hampered
by armed militiamen who have set up roadblocks, she added.
