The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
inaugurated a Peace Centre in Warawar on Saturday.

USAID's South Sudan Transitional and Conflict Mitigation program
started implementing conflict mitigation and stabilization activities
in Warawar in February 2011. Its aim is to reduce conflict in the
border areas of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.

In his address at the inauguration, the United States Ambassador to
South Sudan, R. Barrie Walkley, outlined the way in which the US is
assisting South Sudan, including maintaining security, building the
economy, and consolidating democratic reform, good governance and rule
of law.

Thanking the American people for their support, the Governor of
Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Paul Malong Awan, said that peace is the only
route to stability.
