I did not know there was an installer for Debian, I just followed the
instructions listed in the install guide pdf...using apt-get I was able to
get all the required packages.  And I installed the latest Debian build.  I
cant get the desktop to run...I'm not sure why, but I'm no linux guru by any
measure.  Thanks

Did you use debian installer? Which 
Debian distro did you install 
(woody/sarge/sid)? What kernel did you 
install(2.4.x 2.6.x) ?

What desktop are you running (kde/gnome)?
