Craig.

I don't use it for billing, but rather so I have a general idea of what to
expect
from the monthly bill for the link concerned.

Unfortunately, it's a critial link which is on a volume limited data plan -
don't
ask. :-)

Yes, I am comparing what comes out of JFFNMS with another collector -
actually,
two other collectors - MRTG using the log file method, and CACTI which uses
either RRD or something of its own {I can't quite recall}.

I have found specific errors on this link, but they appear to be irregular -
one
day I'll look, and the figure will be out by some massive amount, the next
day
I'll look and it'll be close enough to make me happy. It's quite strange.

I should add that I haven't noticed a problem in the last couple of days -
maybe
the data needed a couple of days to settle average out properly after I
upgraded
to 0.7.8? I don't know.

Darren

I've have had some experience in billing systems and RRD files. There
is too much rounding going on in RRD for it to be accurate for billing.
Of course for capacity planning you could use it.

Billing should be 1-5% error, capacity planning can have 10% or more.

It sounds however that you have found some specific error, or are you
comparing it to some other collector?
