Basically to "ping" a host you use the "interface" called "Reachability".

1.  Go to Administration, Internal Configuration, Polling/Discovery, Interface Types then edit the Reachability type.  Check the box for MANUAL Interface add.  Save it.

2.  Go to Administration, Hosts and Interfaces, then Hosts.  Pick the host to want to add reachability to, then select "Manual Discovery".  You should see the option to add Reachbility for this host now and can add it by clicking the "Manual Add" option.

Once this is done, and you’ve added the Interface for Reachability, you should be able to see it after the next poll.

Mike

Thank you, I have almost all my server up, so reinstaling in Linux would

mean a lot of work.

I finally was able to use your script, I made the changes you posted, never

the less I still can't see how to ping them as Craig told me in the next

lines, is there something missing that I have to enable?, How can I know

that the changes wher ok?

In the manual discovery with port I don’t get any result at all

Thanks

Alberto,

fping works only on linux. You could trie to compilate it with cygwin, but i

didnt succeed in getting it compiled. Even the fping-command you will find

on the internet, like on http://www.kwakkelflap.com/fping.html , is another

fping as the one on linux and will not work.

Greetz,

Johan
