If poller.php do not drop any packet/result, no matter how busy the box is, eventaully, it will finish its polling cycle and insert the result to the RRD data storage. Unless poller2.php skips polling cycles when the box is busy (Javier, can you confirm?). Otherwise, the only reason you have gaps in the graph is RRD decleared the data point(s) invalid (NaN) because they were outside of allowed "heartbeat".
Javier, Is there any reason you set the default to .5? I would suggest we tune it to half of the polling cycle (150). Hi, Well, if you have a lot of 30! then you will have gaps in the graphs! Load should remain under 1 or 2. The number of threads is ok for a installation that size. You should try to move the DB to another server, that will lower the load a lot. First to got 20 threads and see if you can lower the load. What HW are you using? SCSI disks? I upgraded from 0.7.9 -> 0.8.0 -> 0.8.1 and everything went fine except I got one error on the 0.8.0 upgrade for this file - engine/discovery/ntp_client.inc.php.rej, but I don't think that has anything to do with the graphs... I never modified any files, so I don't know why I got that error.... > > Anyway, after upgrading there are a bunch of gaps in my graphs. I have 197 hosts and I am trying the new poller2 with 30 threads. The load average on my server is around 32, 32, 31. It is a little high but this is a lot lower than it was when I was using the old poller. > > Is there something I can do to fix the gaps in the graphs?
