Hi Jan,
You can't save the configuration because register_globals is Off.
Please verify if you don't have 2 php.ini's (one for CLI, one for Apache)
You can load /admin/adm/test.php and check which php.ini file is using.

PHP was configured and built (successfully) for the SNMP extension and the php.ini file shows the register global on. Apache was restarted.
I also couldn't get setup to save the config changes and had to modify the default configuration.
