OK, this brings up another question or two about performance, Do you have some other suggestions regarding tuning and performance issues while using and setting up JFFNMS? For example, tuning suggestions for MySql, Apache etc.? Perhaps making a performance/tuning suggestion page in the documentation would make a good addition?

Hi Doug,

I've successfully monitored 150 devices on a single P4 3ghz. (HT is better)

You can grow to a lot more than 250 hosts if you put the DB in another server.

The load will depend on the number of theads you run and the number of interfaces per host, I've seen around 40 with 200 hosts.

Guys;
I looked through the mail archives for this, maybe I did not look back far
enough, but my question is one of sizing. My question: if I am going to
monitor X number of devices, I should have a machine of some size to be
able to monitor these devices and have a good response time on
JFFNMS. Does anyone have a rule of thumb for machine sizing ? At the
moment, I am looking to monitor around 30 switches, plus a few servers, but
that could expand to a much larger number.
I have it currently running and I am impressed with the package.
Thanks in advance
