Hi All,
I'm adding an IBM Blade Server module for JFFNMS that use generic
snmp_status and temperature(_aggregation) scripts but I have some little
problems:
1- snmp_status
Is it possible to extend the generic snmp_status to manage several states:
eg: The IBM Blade MIB outputs 4 differents states for Server Health

Is it possible to extend the generic snmp_status to manage several states:
eg: The IBM Blade MIB outputs 4 differents states for Server Health
0 = unknown, 1 = good, 2 = warning, 3 = bad
(very common in snmp)
but with snmp_status I only can have UP or Down status (if I put warning in Up condition, I can't miss problem, i I don't put warning state I will be alerte same maner that for bad state, not so good).
The problem is the same with Compaq temperature or fan interface type, JFFNMS is
sometime reporting down state but when we look at the Compaq Mib the
fans can be in other(1) ok(2) degraded(3) or failed(4) mode. When i look at the logs I saw that Other state happens some times (I have less down events when I put this in the poller ==> .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.6.7.1.9.<chassis>.<fanindex>,2=up|1=other)
but with snmp_status I only can have UP or Down status (if I put warning in Up condition, I can't miss problem, i I don't put warning state I will be alerte same maner that for bad state, not so good).

Perhaps we can extend the snmp_status to manage 3
or 4 states ?
2- temperature_aggregation
My IBM Blade server interface type is like this
---+---------------+---------------+----------+-------------------+-------------+--------+--------------+---------+------------------------------+
| ID | Description | Internal Name | Position | Interface Type | Field Type | Show | Overwritable | Tracked | Default Value |
+-----+---------------+---------------+----------+-------------------+-------------+--------+--------------+---------+------------------------------+
| 345 | Index | index | 10 | IBM Blade Servers | Index | Never | O | O | |
| 350 | Health State | health_state | 15 | IBM Blade Servers | Description | Never | O | O | |
| 351 | Serial Number | serial | 20 | IBM Blade Servers | Description | Always | O | X | |
| 352 | Manuf. date | manuf_date | 25 | IBM Blade Servers | Description | Always | O | X | |
| 353 | Temperature | temperature | 30 | IBM Blade Servers | RRDTool DS | Never | O | O | Type: Gauge Min: 0 Max: 1000 |
+-----+---------------+---------------+----------+-------------------+-------------+--------+--------------+---------+------------------------------+
The temperature graph is well shown but I can't see the Interface
Name front of each RRD line on the aggregation graph (only host name and
zone shortname + RRD data: Average Max and Min). Do I miss something in
the Interface declaration ?
Cheers,
