Craig and Javier, Thanks for the response.
Craig, to answer your question about the application not running, no it never stopped running that I know of before the problem started. Which is why I don't understand why JFFNMS would all of a sudden keep alerting me to the fact it IS running, as if it were a critical failure. It used to only alert me when it stopped. On the HOSTS screen it shows that the host has a total of 11 interfaces, and the problem host is colored red saying 1 is down. When I click on the host it shows that the application is NOT running, even though it keeps alerting me that it is. I read the documentation on how to run the poller manually, and here's the output. The Host ID is 8 and the problem interface ID is 717. I hope I did it right. C:\jffnms\engine>php poller.php 8 717 09:37:02 : H 8 : Poller Start : 5 Items. 09:37:02 : H 8 : I 717 : P 10 : app_status,current_instances(Medi..rev): running;1 Instance(s)|1 -> multi_buffer(): 2 (time P:29.73 | 1.75) 09:37:02 : H 8 : I 717 : P 20 : app_status(): running;1 Instance(s) -> alarm(38): Event Added: 2452 (time P:1.59 | 12.59) 09:37:02 : H 8 : I 717 : P 30 : hostmib_perf:used_memory(2): 34248 -> buffer(): 3 (time P:9.44 | 1.75) 09:37:02 : H 8 : I 717 : P 90 : no_poller(): 0 -> rrd(*): current_instances:1 - used_memory:34248 (time P:1.69 | 152.21) 09:37:02 : H 8 : I 717 : P LPD : last_poll_date(): 1138113422 -> db(last_poll_date): 1 (time P:2.1 | 9.36) 09:37:02 : H 8 : Poller End, Total Time: 283.68 msec. I'm noticing it now on some other applications on other hosts too. Is maybe my database corrupted, or my poller taking too long? The only problem interfaces seem to be applications so far. I also should have mentioned on my first post that JFFNMS is on a Windows Machine. I'm not good with linux :( . It may tell us why it is playing up. > Alarm: Application Not Running since 2006-01-22 08:40:26 did something happen at this time? Perhaps the process was restarted? It looks like the IDs or PIDs are confused. - Craig -- Craig Small GnuPG:1C1B D893 1418 2AF4 45EE 95CB C76C E5AC 12CA DFA5 Eye-Net Consulting http://www.enc.com.au/ MIEE Debian developer csmall at : enc.com.au ieee.org debian.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------- It could aslo be a timeout issue between your NMS and the target host. We're using it at our agency here and it's monitoring about 40 hosts. I've managed to get the rules setup how I want and everything. Thank you for the great program! The problem I'm having now though is that in the last 4 days or so, JFFNMS has started sending out ERRORS when a particular monitored applications is RUNNING. For example, here's one below from the HOST and EVENTS section. Application Mefcha01gpsr01 Mecklenbur Application MedicServer_rev is running 1 Instance(s) (CMED Application)=20 The alarm says the application is running. So why generate an alarm in the first place? It used to not do that. But yet when you look at host, it says the Application is NOT running, like below: MedicServer_rev (not running) Description: Application CMED (Applications MedicServer_rev) Alarm: Application Not Running since 2006-01-22 08:40:26 I know the application IS in fact running, I can see it running. I've searched the archives the best way I know how using different phrases and none seem relevant in this case. Two Interesting side facts, it only does this with ONE of the THREE apps I've set on that particular host, and yet, it still graphs the memory usage even though it reports its down. Deleting and rediscovering it has made no difference. Any ideas? Thanks again for the help.
