Hello list,
Vitals.
OS Linux.
JFFNMS 0.8.2
Hosts: 46
Interfaces: 2035
I was just digging through my JFF config and noticed a field I have over
looked previously.
Admin> Hosts> scroll to the right, Last poll duration. Most of the
durations are only a few seconds some close to 20 seconds. One is 00:04:04.
This host does also have the highest number of interfaces (191) of all the
nodes monitored.
I am now concerned that my monitoring activities could have a larger over
head on the monitored devices than I had first considered.
Looking at the node its self I am not taxing CPU or memory too hard (CPU 11%
Memory 22%) but 4 minutes to poll a device from start to finish, leaving 56
seconds before it start again seems high?
Is this normal for the number of Interfaces?
Is the only way to get the poll time down to reduce the number of Interfaces
polled?
For reference the device is a Nortel 8600 passport, with WSM load balancers
and a lot of Ethernet switch ports.
Regards,
Mat.
