Hello all, I am running version 0.8.3-rc1 on a FreeBSD installation. I have browsed through the list for threads on this alerting
using SNMP traps. This is what I have done so far. 1) I have created an event type of SNMP Error 1 . Severity =
Critical. Event Text = <user> <interface>
<state> <info> ) 2) I created a Poller Backend called TEST. (Poller Command = event. Parameter
= ID from item 1) When I created the SNMP Trap Receiver, I used the ID in item 1 and used
the backend in item 2. I put a test OID in OID Match. Now, from reading past threads, the “mapping” receiver
command hasn’t been implemented yet. So, I have “unknown for the
Receiver command at the moment. When I send a test trap with my test OID using: snmptrap -v 1 -c SNMP99Rock! 192.168.40.1 .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.2
"" 1 0 "" I get: unknown Trap OID .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.2 in the events window. Both Event Type and Host/Zone are correct, so I know it is doing the
right thing. zeus# tail -f trap_receiver-2006-06-27.log 22:22:17 ------ IP: 192.168.40.61 Uptime: .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 2:3:26:44.54 Trap OID: .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.2 Line 1 is: .1.3.6.1.6.3.18.1.4.0 ==> SNMP99Rock! Line 2 is: .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.4.3.0 ==> .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.2 New Trap ID: 21 My question is how do I mangle the trap message before the
event is created? Does anyone have a working receiver command that does this that they
wouldn’t mind sharing? Greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Alhagie Puye - Network Systems
