Hi you helpful people,

                                                I have just deployed a
fresh install of JFFNMS 0.8.4 into a new environment. OS is CentOs 5.3,
monitoring various Windows 2003 boxes. After various teething problems I
have mostly got it working, however I am still having a few problems I
am hoping you may be able to help me with!

The first problem is that automagic host setup is not working. It is
finding all the listening ports on the machines, but nothing else (ie
disk space, cpu usage, anything SNMP flavoured) - This is probably
related to the second problem, which is...

JFFNMS doesn't seem to be able to "translate" SNMP traps into sensible
formats - as the below screenshot demonstrates:

Also, when attempting manual discovery, the following happens:

I have a separate working deployment which was done by someone else, a
long time ago on Ubuntu. I have tried comparing the two but they are so
different I cannot tell which differences are important and which are
not. Any help you guys can offer would be really great!

Thanks.

Joel Watson.

Hi Joel,

screenshots don't make it to the digest readers like myself, please
upload
them somewhere and give a link.

Your monitoring W2K3: did you configure the SNMP service to accept
packets
from your new JFFNMS server?

Hi Ruud,
        Thanks for replying. The screenshots can be found at
http://www.w00t.org.uk/ss1.jpg
and
http://www.w00t.org.uk/ss2.jpg

I have configured the windows hosts appropriately, as far as i can tell.
When using SNMPwalk, all values seem to be returned properly:

Items removed so I don't fill your mailbox........
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.1 = STRING: A:\
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.2 = STRING: C:\ Label:  Serial Number
e894a4ec
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.3 = STRING: D:\
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.4 = STRING: E:\ Label:SPARE  Serial
Number 87b5e62
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.5 = STRING: Virtual Memory
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.6 = STRING: Physical Memory
Items removed so I don't fill your mailbox........
Etc..

Joel,

Please also reply to the list, so everybody can help :-)

I don't use traps, I'm only monitoring my W2K3 with JFF, so I can't
really help you with that one. But it seems to me you need to configure
JFFNMS so it knows what to do with the trap messages. Maybe someone on
the list already did this, so if you can tell us what kind of machines
your monitoring that give these traps (HP, Dell, etc.).

Second problem is also a mystery to me :-(
I've never seen the message "No more variables left I this MIB View (Its
is past the end of the MIB tree)"
