I've just uploaded JFFNMS 0.9.2 rc1 to sourceforge. It fixes the config update problems and possibly some problems you might of had with the engines. StevenK, this should fix your 'I cannot save' problems.
You can find it at https://sourceforge.net/projects/jffnms/files/jffnms%20RC/ and if you are running a 0.9.x version of JFFNMS I'd would suggest you try it out.
