That's really not a good way of adding interfaces. In fact it is so
unused I forgot that "feature" was there until your email.
The better way to get a new interface is to use manual autodiscovery
OK, that sounds like a contradiction but here goes.

 * In admin menu go to Hosts & Interfaces -> Hosts
 * On the left combo box for your host choose "Manual Discovery" or
   "Manual Discovery w/o Portscan"
 * Click the blue arrow to the right of the combo box
 * Wait for the list of interfaces to appear
 * click the left-most check box on the interfaces you want
 * Click "Add Marked Interfaces" button at the bottom.

The manual/autodiscovery scripts also make sure you have all the correct
hidden fields in place too, such as ifIndex on a normal SNMP index.
