Ok, since Shaggy hasn't piped in I'll try and answer your questions.

SLES 9 SP1 should most if not all of the recent bugfixes.

Yeah JFS doesn't preallocate groups or aggregates at mkfs time so
there's really not much to specify unless you need to set up an
external journal or set a volume label.

There shouldn't be, we've used it fairly extensively on NFS servers.

Again, there shouldn't be, we've run JFS on many different
servers/archs without problems.

If you're typical workload is very meta-data intensive with lots of
threads etc. you might want to increase the nTxLock or nTxBlock module
parameters, but in general it shouldn't be necessary.
