All, I am lost in the Linux partition world. I assumed FC4 came with JFS support, but haven’t been
able to confirm or deny that. Used Disk Druid to get the initial partitions in place and
though I created a LVM but didn’t format it. Nowhere did Disk Druid
ask me if I wanted to use JFS. Now I’m trying to create a /var/video folder and after
doing a little research I’m sold on JFS and want to use it. Problem is my lack of Linux Admin experience (read none) First issue df –k does not list this logical
partition. How do I show the partitions after I have Linux installed? How can I verify that my installation of FC4 has JFS support?
Does this have to be compiled in? (This question stems from the one guide
I found but it referenced a boot partition this will not be a boot partition) With it installed/not installed can I use yum to get the
latest JFS/JFSUtils? If so where is the repo? It there a thread/howto/current docs that describes how to
create a lvm using JFS on a none boot partition? The doc found at http://jfs.sourceforge.net/project/pub/jfsroot.html
refers to the following outdated URL: http://www-124.ibm.com/developerworks/oss/jfs
which redirects me to http://www.ibm.com/us/
It also has me recompiling the kernel which I went with FC4 to stay away
from that. Thanks in advance for all the information, jb |
