My bad.  Only O_DIRECT writes allocate in bigger chunks.  Normal writes
are still allocated a page at a time.  This is something I want to
address when I get the time.

So it's not that jfs couldn't find 3 contiguous blocks, but that it
really doesn't look for them.  It's allocating one block at a time, and
will grow into contiguous space if it can.

I can't promise anything soon.  My main focus at work is in other areas
now, and my free time has been away from the computer lately.  Unless
someone else is willing to devote some time to this, it may be a while.
