I’m just about ready to reformat here, unless someone has an alternative
suggestion.

Does anyone know if this problem exists on all resizes past 32 TB, or at all 32
TB boundaries, or just at 32 TB specifically? In other words, do I have to give
up JFS now that I have more than 32 TB in the volume or is there a workable
solution for larger filesystems?
