Linux JFS is ported from OS/2, yes, but at least in

oss.software.ibm.com/developer/ opensource/jfs/project/pub/jfs040802.pdf

they talk of a common source base and one finds:

" Where has the source base shipped?
  - OS/2 Warp Server for e-business 4/99
  - OS/2 Warp Client (fixpack 10/00)
  - AIX 5L called JFS2 4/01/01 "

So what's the real story now? I mean, if they have a
common source base, why can't they be compatible?
One may notice JFS2 to have appeared later (the release
date says nothing about development however), so the
introduction of additional features may cause
incompatibilities. But nevertheless I'm wondering about
what the use would be to develop two similar but
incompatible file systems at a time...(having in mind
that the two OS can be run on the same machine)

cu,
Stefan
